Escapist Escapism

About

Escapist Escapism is concerned with making music to soothe, heal, upllift and inspire the spirit. The music is available to download and also in unique live online performances.

When their hands aren't on their varied musical instruments, Escapist Escapism is occupied with creative projects of the pen, brush and lens, social justice, simplicity, knowledge, introspection and sloth.

And the trees.....oh yes, there are trees, a deep love of trees, and of the incredible gifts of nature and life, for Escapist Escapism is only a leaf, blown and swirling in the breezes of life, searching for beauty and seeking to tell a tale of gratitude and wonder each day.

Northern Lights - new FREE download

Its been a little quiet here of late as work continues apace on a new album, among a whole host of other creative projects! New video and podcast projects are planned, along with a whole new website too. Now if I could just find that time machine…

Until new things reach completion, however, here’s a new free download for you to enjoy, of the track “Northern Lights”. If you’ve heard me play live recently you may well have heard me perform it. This is a little different though. This is the original live performance of “Northern Lights”, performed at the SL venue of the same name.

This track was completely improvised on the fly, one of those “Go for it and hope it comes out OK” moments. You’re not just hearing its first performance, you’re hearing it being written in the moment!

This was a lot of fun to play and while the track has changed and developed as its been played many times since, this is the original version, offered “as is” - if you listen closely you can even hear me cough a couple of times!

You can click the cover art or click here to get to the FREE download, hope you enjoy!

On this track, Egyptian Fog, InterfaceD produced unique particles to complement the music and Jana was joined by on guitar by Swina Allen for an audio-visual experience in SL like no other. Sit back, turn the speakers up and marvel! It was filmed at Jana’s Music ALL music Peace Park venue.

Some people make snowmen, or snow angels or even snow bunnies when the snow falls and covers the ground in its blanket of newness.
Not me.
No, I jump around and make a figure of 8, the symbol of infinity, the endless loop travelling around back and in and out of itself. The snow and deep cold of winter is just a part of the loop and the seasons will make their journey around it and back towards spring and summer before we know it…..

Just once, in a very blue moon…..
There was a blue moon on the last day of the year, that very rare event of a second full moon inside a calendar month. According to my reading there isn’t another one until 2028!
It didn’t disappoint, shining intensely bright and lighting up the cloud that surrounded it, but somehow never fully covered it.
